FIFA World Cup 2018 Organisers to Offer Visa-Free System for WC Ticket Holders – Here’s a good news for all football fans who wish to travel to Russia for FIFA World Cup 2018 matches. Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed into law the visa-free system for football fans having the World Cup Tickets.
Fans who grab tickets and have issued for Fan ID issued by Russian Government will be granted a free visa (permission to enter Russia without the visa) for the period surrounding the World Cup. Moreover, Russia will also have free travel for fans between host cities.
A similar system for implemented during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Alexey Smertin, former Chelsea defender who works as an anti-racism and discrimination inspector believes that the scheme is a perfect response to those fans who had an issue of not affording travelling between cities.
“We have considered the whole journey of fans when visiting Russia for the World Cup. It isn’t just about the tickets they buy, it’s about the affordability of their whole experience when travelling to, and inside Russia. We have developed the free Fan ID system, that not only serves as a ticketholder’s pass to the stadiums, it is also grants visa-free access to Russia, offers free transport inside host cities, and most impressively between host cities. Once ticket holders obtain their Fan ID they can travel literally thousands of miles, without spending a penny. How’s that for affordability?!”
Earlier, a few months back, Sorokin, the CEO of the local organising committee had confirmed that 262 trains will offer free transport for fans.
